No Voters To Be Left Behind..

General Elections to the House of People are being held on 10th April 2014 for the lone Parliamentary constituency from Andaman & Nicobar islands. There are 386 Polling stations in the UT.

The A & N Islands are remotely located and are cut off by Sea from rest of India by a distance of more than 1200 Km. There is no terrestrial fibre optics connectivity in the UT, as is commonly available in rest of the country. All communication is dependent on Satellite based medium, which is slow and unreliable. The bandwidth availability is meagre. In spite of these constraints, for the first time in A & N Islands, the Election department has planned to have “Live Webcast” of polling day activities on 10th April 2014, from 5 Polling stations at the Govt Secondary School, Dairy Farm, Port Blair.
